After graduating from the CCNY with a BFA in Jazz Performance (guitar), I worked full time at Sadowsky Guitars for 3 years, building basses and doing archtop guitar fretwork and setups. At Sadowsky I built, repaired and setup instruments for world-renowned players such as: Jason Newsted (Metallica, Newsted) Andy Summers (The Police) Ricky Minor (Ray Charles, The tonight show with Jay Leno, Beyonce, Whitney Houston) Tal Wilkenfeld (Jeff Beck, Herbie Hancock, Wayne Krantz) Tully Kennedy (Jason Aldean, Nashville sessions) Mike Merritt, Chuck Loeb and Lee Ritenour. I had an invaluable experience working side by side with Roger Sadowsky, learning from his 40 years of knowledge and expertise in the guitar-making industry.
In 2014, I stopped working at Sadowsky to open my own repair shop in Astoria Queens, NY. Thanks to my passion for jazz music, I found my niche doing repair work for many jazz guitarist in the city. Some of my customers include world renowned players such as, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Peter Bernstein, Lionel Loueke, Stanley Clark, Adam Rogers, Russell Malone, Ed Cherry, Lage Lund, Mike Moreno, Gilad Hekselman, Yotam Silberstein, Steve Cardenas, Vic Juris, Cassandra Wilson, Camila Meza, Jonathan Kreisberg, Nir Felder, Burniss Travis, Vicente Archer, Jose James, Pasquale Grasso and Nate Wood among many others. At the Astoria workshop I also started my own line of solid body guitars.
In 2016 my friend and luthier Victor Baker invited me to be part of his team to built 30 “made in NYC masterbuild series” for D’angelico guitars. Also that year I worked at Madison Square Garden for Bob Weir (Grateful Dead) for his Dead&Company tour feat. John Mayer. After 13 years living in NYC and 10 working as a guitar maker and repairman, I came back to my home country Chile, to open a new workshop in Santiago and keep repairing and building my line of solid body guitars.
